Things To Go is a Winston-Salem based company designed to help you manage the contents of your home.

Whether you need a single room reorganized or an entire house emptied, we can provide strategies and solutions for the project.

Our goal is to help relieve the stress and anxiety of letting things go.  We offer ideas for dealing with items that you no longer need or can use.

So whether things go with you, or to family and friends, or to charities and non-profits, or to other designated recipients, we can simplify and direct the process.

Our staff has a combined 20 years of experience helping people downsize.   We take care of the details so that you can focus on your new adventure.

Things To Go

Offers a variety of personalized and professional services designed to help people in Winston Salem and Forsyth County who:

 

  • Are faced with cleaning out and emptying the residence of a loved one.
  • Have accumulated a lifetime of possessions and are overwhelmed with the prospect of “de-cluttering”.
  • Are ready to downsize and move but find the process to be daunting.
  • Don’t know where to turn for help.

CONSULTATION SERVICES

 

  • Meet with client on site
  • Discuss and determine client’s needs
  • Offer a plan of action and services appropriate to their needs
  • Provide client with a resource guide

ORGANIZING SERVICES

 

  • Declutter and clean out designated spaces
  • Reorganize spaces
  • Repurpose spaces
  • Prepare unneeded items for storage and/or for removal

DOWNSIZING FOR A MOVE

 

  • Formulate a plan and a timetable
  • Declutter, discover and sort through all spaces with care
  • Help determine what items to keep, to share, to sell, to donate or to dispose of
  • Offer recommendations for, and help with, selling unneeded and unwanted items
  • Offer recommendations of area appraisers and auction houses
  • Arrange for shipping items and/or furniture to family when appropriate

PREPARING FOR A MOVE

 

  • Offer recommendations for furniture repair, furniture upholsterers, shredding companies, rug cleaners, etc.
  • Help secure movers and packers
  • Help create a furniture placement plan for new home
  • Manage moving day with on site supervision
  • Assist with unpacking, setting up and staging of new space

EMPTYING A RESIDENCE FOR A LOVED ONE OR AFTER DOWNSIZING

 

  • Formulate a plan and a timetable

  • Offer recommendations for, and help with, selling unneeded and unwanted items

Meet The Team

Lili

Winston-Salem has been my home since 1983. Before becoming a full-time mother of two, my professional career was teaching special needs elementary students. Since then I have enjoyed volunteering at various schools, at my church and for Meals on Wheels.

It has been my privilege to know have Linda  as a friend for over 15 years and as  a business associate for more than 6. I, along with her, endeavor to help our clients navigate the challenging experience of change.

I’ve lived in Winston-Salem for 32 years. I am active in my church as an elder and as a member of the choir. Volunteering and serving on the Board of Directors for Riverwood Therapeutic Riding Center has been an important part of my life for the past 20 years. My background is in the financial industry. My hobbies include music and “lake life” with my family! I’m married, have two grown children and two labs.

WE RE-CYCLE WHENEVER POSSIBLE, KEEPING MATERIALS OUT OF OUR LANDFILL.

After our father died this past Thanksgiving, we received the recommendation to call Things To Go to help us with the massive undertaking of going through our parents’ home to get it ready to sell.  We had the extra challenge of the four of us living in different locations across the country.  Little did we know that when Darlene, Lili, and Linda showed up at our door that we would be working with genuine angels!  They took care of us like we were THEIR family!  Everything was handled with such care, compassion, thought, honesty, and respect.  Not only did they help us get the house ready to sell, but they also made sure everything had a place to go after the house sold.  And they even sold our parents’ car for more than expected!  We knew our parents were smiling knowing that we had this priceless help during a very emotional and difficult time.  We are beyond thankful to this incredible service provided by three very special ladies.

My wife and I hired Things To Go to vacate my mother’s two-bedroom Redbud Unit at Bermuda Village.   We could not have been more pleased with the very reasonably-priced services provided by the group, which consists of three wonderful ladies in Winston-Salem who have developed relationships with many local charitable and consignment entities.  They created a comprehensive inventory of all “things to go”, and completely emptied the unit in only three days.
